Ranthambore Tiger Reserve
There’s a stillness in Ranthambore that feels almost electric, as if the forest itself is holding its breath. On my visit, that tension broke. Twice.
Early in the morning, just as the light was beginning to filter through the trees, we came across Sultana (T107). She was quietly drinking from a small puddle right on the damp dirt track, the same path our jeep was driving on. There was no drama, no chase, just her, in complete peace. After a few moments, she stood up and walked right past us, her presence calm but commanding. It felt like we’d been let into a secret moment that wasn’t meant to be shared.
But the real magic came later.
In the golden glow of late afternoon, we spotted Chirico (T86). He was about 50 metres away, moving alongside our jeep through the dry Ranthambore forest. The light was perfect, soft, warm, and golden, making his striped coat look like something out of a painting. Every step he took was confident and graceful, as if the entire forest was built just for him.
We followed him slowly for nearly an hour. No rush, no noise, just Chirico leading the way. The way he carried himself, surrounded by the golden light and silence of the jungle, made the moment feel surreal.
Seeing Sultana was special. But witnessing Chirico during golden hour? That was unforgettable.
Ranthambore gave me more than just tiger sightings, it gave me moments I’ll be chasing for the rest of my life.
