Corbett Tiger Reserve
Corbett Tiger Reserve

Corbett Tiger Reserve is not just a jungle it's a heart, emotion and lifeline for me, as this jungle has always pulled me since my childhood days.

My first visit to this pristine forest was 20 years back and I was fortunate enough to stay at the Old FRH of Dhikala zone with my parents, without knowing anything about the jungles it was just a wishful trip for me.

Corbett lies in the foothills of the Himalayas and the landscape is just stunning, making this entire wilderness a postcard for everyone, a wilderness to admire and experience even if you don't see any of its inhabitants.

I didn't see any tigers or elephants for which people usually come to Corbett instead an elephant safari was the icing on the cake, it is one of a kind when you go deep into the jungle on elephant back as if you are one of the own to whom jungle belongs to, my journey to Corbett started there and I am still continuing the day I am writing this story.

For the next 20 years from the day I visited first I have done uncounted jungle safaris with unlimited stories to share, I read different books and learned about the landscape of Corbett, different seasons and its advantages & disadvantages to visit as a tourist, different zones and also the different tigers which have their territory in the tourism zones.

I used to follow the daily sighting updates over social media, so I went there a few times to understand animal behaviour, saw many elephants and other animals but the tiger was still hiding away from me for many years.

I got disappointed and somehow told myself why not to visit some other tiger reserves where sightings are frequent, but then I used to sleep with a dream every night to see this majestic animal in the majestic landscape of Corbett, I can't just let it go after so of much effort over the years and Corbett pulled me back again and again until March 2017 when the sun rised up the horizon and its rays fell on my luck, the day I will never forget as I sighted my first tiger, that too a male tiger in the Jhirna Zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve.
